Plastic Sheet Underlayment – Moisture Barrier & Floor Protection Layer
A plastic sheet underlayment is a thin plastic installed beneath flooring materials (like SPC, laminate, or engineered wood) to serve as a moisture barrier, vapor control layer, or basic cushion. It plays a crucial role in ensuring the longevity and stability of the floor, especially over concrete subfloors.
Application:
- Moisture Barrier : Prevents moisture from rising up from concrete or ground into your flooring
- Vapor Control : Reduces condensation and mold buildup beneath floating floors
- Basic Cushioning: Provides slight softness and sound reduction when walking
- Smooth Substrate Layer: Helps level out small imperfections on the subfloor
Specification:
1. Non Virgin Plastic:
Thickness: 0.06mm
Coverage: ± 1440 sqft/roll
2. Virgin Plastic:
Thickness: 0.15mm
Coverage: ±540 sqft/roll
Important Note:
Plastic sheet underlayment is not a substitute for foam underlay. It’s typically used in combination with other layers (like PE or EVA foam) for complete performance.
