Product Overview

Nippon Paint Q-Lac Gloss Finish is a high-performance solvent-based enamel paint formulated to deliver a smooth, tough, and mirror-like finish. Engineered for versatility, it is the ideal choice for enhancing and protecting interior and exterior wood and metal surfaces, including doors, window frames, grilles, and railings.

This high-gloss lacquer features advanced fungus resistance and excellent durability, ensuring your surfaces stay vibrant and clean even in humid environments. Approved by SIRIM (Malaysian Standard MS 125:1995), it offers professional-grade quality that is easy to apply by brush, roller, or spray. Whether you are refreshing old furniture or protecting new metalwork, Q-Lac provides a resilient barrier against wear and tear while maintaining a brilliant, lasting shine.

Technical Data

  • Drying Time (Touch Dry): 1 hour (at 28–32°C).

  • Drying Time (Hard Dry): 8 hours (at 28–32°C).

  • Recoating Time: Minimum 8 hours.

  • Theoretical Coverage: 9 – 11 m² per litre per coat.

  • Dry Film Thickness: 30 – 35 μm per coat.

  • Volume Solid: ~58%.

  • Shelf Life: Up to 36 months in a tightly sealed container.

Application Instructions

  • Application Method: Brush, Roller, Conventional Air Spray, or Airless Spray.

  • Thinning (Brush/Roller): Dilute with 5% Nippon Paint General Purpose Thinner if necessary.

  • Thinning (Air Spray): Dilute with 15% Nippon Paint General Purpose Thinner.

  • Cleaning: Clean all equipment with thinner immediately after use.

Recommended Coating System

For Wood:

  1. Primer (1 Coat): 9000 Aluminium Wood Primer.

  2. Undercoat (1 Coat): 9000 Speed Undercoat or Economy Undercoat.

  3. Topcoat (2 Coats): Q-Lac Gloss Finish.

For Metal (Steel/Iron):

  1. Primer (1 Coat): Red Oxide Primer or Zinc Chromate Primer.

  2. Undercoat (1 Coat): 9000 Speed Undercoat or Economy Undercoat.

  3. Topcoat (2 Coats): Q-Lac Gloss Finish.

Surface Preparation

  • Wood: Ensure the surface is dry and clean. Sand with appropriate sandpaper and wipe off dust before priming.

  • Metal: Remove all rust, scale, and grease. Ferrous metals should be wire-brushed or sanded to a clean finish before applying the primer.
