Description

Mapefoam is a closed-cell, extruded polyethylene foam cord used as a back-up material for elastomeric sealants. Its smooth, anti-adhesive surface prevents bonding with the sealant, allowing the sealant to move freely and uniformly within the joint. Mapefoam is available in various diameters to suit different joint sizes.

Uses

Mapefoam is used to regulate the depth of sealant in expansion and distribution joints and to:

• Prevent adhesion of the sealant to the bottom of the joint

• Control the correct sealant depth

• Reduce sealant consumption

• Maintain optimum elastic performance of the joint

Characteristics & Advantages

• Expanded polyethylene cord: non-stick for subsequent elastic sealants and rot-proof over time

• Closed cell outer surface: no water absorption

• Easily compressible to promote self-support within the joint

• The most common diameters also available in small packages (bags of 10 linear metres)
