Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. completed this full house renovation and interior design project at Arte S Condominium, Bukit Gambier, Gelugor, Penang. The client engaged us to transform the unit into a more attractive and memorable Airbnb homestay unit, with the goal of helping the property stand out from other rental units in the same area.

For short-stay rental units, design is not only about appearance. It must be practical, easy to maintain, space-efficient, and visually appealing in photos. For this Arte S project, we created a bright, clean, and modern interior with soft colours, warm lighting, practical storage, and customised built-in furniture to improve both guest comfort and rental presentation.

Our scope of work included interior design service, kitchen cabinet with breakfast table, TV cabinet, partition wall panelling with hidden door, custom super single bed frame, plaster ceiling works, wiring works, plumbing works, air conditioning works, painting works, SPC flooring works, and house decoration.

Design Concept

The design concept for this Arte S Airbnb unit focuses on a bright, simple, and welcoming modern style. The colour palette uses mainly white, soft grey, light wood tones, and pastel accents to create a clean and relaxing environment.

The bedroom was designed with a calm hotel-like feel, using a custom bed frame to fit the wall space neatly. The living area uses wall panelling, a hidden door, and a slim TV cabinet to create a cleaner visual effect. The kitchen area was designed with open shelving and a breakfast table to support light cooking, dining, and guest convenience.

This design direction is suitable for Airbnb because it photographs well, feels comfortable for short stays, and avoids excessive decoration that may be hard to maintain.

Materials & Fittings Used

For this Arte S Condominium Airbnb renovation project, the kitchen cabinet was built with a white melamine carcass, paired with colour melamine ABS edging doors for a clean and practical finish. The kitchen countertop was completed with a sintered stone countertop, providing a premium surface that enhances the overall look while supporting daily kitchen use.

For the partition wall and hidden door feature, we used solid plywood with high pressure laminate (HPL) finishing to achieve a durable and seamless design. The custom super single bed frame was also built using solid plywood with laminate finishing, allowing the bed to fit neatly into the available wall space while maintaining a clean and consistent interior style.

To improve long-term usability, the cabinetry was fitted with a BLUM drawer system and DTC soft-closing door hinges, giving the drawers and cabinet doors a smoother and quieter operation.
