Product Overview

Nippon Paint Hydro Wood & Metal Primer is an innovative water-based green primer formulated for both interior and exterior use. This multi-surface sealer is engineered with advanced anti-corrosive agents, providing robust protection for iron and steel against rust and oxidation.

Unlike conventional primers, its unique waterborne formula ensures Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and low odor, making it the ideal choice for eco-sensitive environments such as hospitals, schools, and residential bedrooms. It offers exceptional adhesion to a variety of substrates, including wood, galvanized steel, and aluminium railings. This primer creates a smooth, matt white base that enhances the finish of water-based topcoats, ensuring a professional and long-lasting result.

Technical Data

• Drying Time (Touch Dry): 30 minutes (dependent on temperature and humidity).

• Drying Time (Hard Dry): 40 minutes (dependent on temperature and humidity).

• Recoating Time: Minimum 2 hours.

• Theoretical Coverage: ~10 m² per litre per coat (at 40μm dry film thickness).

• Dry Film Thickness: 40 – 50 μm per coat.

• Volume Solid: ~38%.

• Shelf Life: Up to 36 months in a tightly sealed container.

Application Instructions

• Application Method: Brush, Roller, or Airless Spray.

• Thinning: Dilute with a maximum of 5% water if necessary (undiluted is preferred for best performance).

• Cleaning: Clean all equipment with water immediately after use.

Recommended Coating System

1. Sealer/Primer (1-2 Coats): Nippon Paint Hydro Wood & Metal Primer.

2. Topcoat (2 Coats): Water-based gloss or matt finishes (e.g., Nippon Hydro Finish, Hydro Gloss, or Hydro Matt).

Surface Preparation

• Metal: Surfaces must be dry and free from grease/rust. Ferrous metals should be sanded or wire-brushed to remove mill scales.

• Wood: Wood must be dry (moisture <12%) and clean. Sand the surface with suitable sandpaper to a smooth finish before priming.
